In your opinion, what should be the role of a primary care provider for a patient, taking into account both physical health and behavioral health needs? The primary care provider role should encompass the needs of the individual on a wholistic basis. Caring for someone's emotional/behavioral needs is just as important as their physical health as each of these can affect the other. The primary care provider should act as an advocate for their patient and by caring for them in the physical and behavioral aspect of medicine does just that. What makes you passionate about being a healthcare provider? I have been in healthcare for over 13 years and every patient interaction has been rewarding in some way. Taking it to the next level and providing primary care has been fulfilling because I know my patients are well cared for and trust me with their life and health. Tell us a little bit about yourself. What do you like to do in your spare time? I very much enjoy traveling (the pandemic has certainly hindered that). I like to be outdoors, enjoying various activities such as bike riding and running (although not very fast). I participated in my first half marathon 2 years ago and look forward to getting back into the race world next year. I also enjoy visiting my friends that live in various parts of the country.
