Tell us what makes you passionate about being a healthcare provider. As cliche as it sounds, I have always been passionate about helping others. As a provider, I want to help educate patients so that they feel empowered in managing their health. Not all of us are medical professionals or in the science field, so I work with each patient to find a way that best explains their health condition. I encourage patients to ask questions and reach out if they don't understand something. Knowledge goes a long way in achieving best possible health. In your opinion, what should be the role of a primary care provider for a patient, taking into account both physical health and behavioral health needs? I view the role of a primary care provider similar to that of a quarterback or part of a board of directors (whichever analogy resonates with you). You, as the patient, have the ultimate say but there are many others involved in the decision making process. The primary care provider should be helping you to navigate through routine health screenings, health promotion, disease prevention, management of chronic conditions, coordinating specialists, and caring for acute conditions. It's important to have a primary care provider that you feel comfortable with. I try to be that person for all of my patients. Tell us a little bit about yourself. What do you like to do in your spare time? In my downtime, I enjoy spending time with my family, including 3 active sons, 2 crazy dogs and very large extended family! I love cooking, baking and doing just about anything outside.
