About Clarice Maala

Tell us what makes you passionate about being a healthcare provider. In healthcare, we cannot fix everybody's problem, but as a heathcare provider we can make a difference. As healthcare providers, we have the opportunity to make a difference in someone's life. We have the power to educate, teach, lead a patient to the right path, be the educator of primary prevention for healthy living, be the listener a patient does not have, be the advocate, be the caretaker they may seek, the big sister or brother they need. We can make a difference even a little bit. This little bit may go a long way in somebody who has nothing. In your opinion, what should be the role of a primary care provider for a patient, taking into account both physical health and behavioral health needs? The role of a primary care provider for a patient is making a difference in someone's life-- no matter how little. This may be as simple as advocating for the patient's rights, being a good listener, being supportive of patient's needs (but not necessarily agreeing with all demands), being an educator, and simply being there. Tell us a little bit about yourself. What do you like to do in your spare time? I love national parks, nature, flowers, and trees, I love walking on trails and having quiet time, whether in the garden, parks, or trails. Having alone time and me time. This allows me to readjust, mentally rest, and refill my cup. I love running. Especially as I prepare for my first marathon in October. I love to read books. I am hoping to be able to drive to ALL the national parks at some point in my life.
