About

What makes you passionate about being a healthcare provider? I decided to pursue my master’s to become a family nurse practitioner in order to further expand my knowledge and have the autonomy to see and treat patients. I can now focus on treating the patient as a whole as well as putting an emphasis on prevention and education. Instead of simply treating the symptom/s, the underlying cause is addressed to significantly improve the overall quality of life of the patient. Being able to go through this journey of health alongside my patients is what makes me passionate about being a healthcare provider. In your opinion, what should be the role of a primary care provider for a patient, taking into account both physical health and behavioral health needs? Becoming and practicing as a nurse practitioner involves incorporating the patient’s needs, a multitude of education, critical thinking, and providing the best care possible proven by evidence-based practice. However, there is so much more to overseeing a patient’s well-being, specifically with preventative and primary care. In order to be the best provider, advocating for the patient’s rights, safety and autonomy are the most important aspects. In addition, allowing the patient to be part of their own plan of care is helpful in establishing a trusting relationship and ensuring that the patient will be motivated to continue with their treatment. Tell us a little bit about yourself. What do you like to do in your spare time? In my spare time, I love to be active and outdoors as much as possible. I also spend a great deal of my time with my close family and friends. I also enjoy traveling and getting to have new experiences and meet new people.
