ADHD treatment with Circle Medical starts with an intake appointment. You and your provider will get to know each other, and conduct an ADHD assessment.
You will review your symptoms, medical history, and your goals for treatment, and confirm that Circle Medical will be a good fit for you.
Required every year
!
In order to begin ADHD treatment with Circle Medical, we require patients to take an Annual Wellness Exam, OR submit the results of one that has taken place within the past year with any provider.
We do this because we always put our patients’ health first — we want to ensure we are taking your full health picture into account before creating a treatment plan.
Your provider will complete a diagnostic evaluation as well as confirm if Circle Medical will be a good fit for your ADHD care.
If diagnosed, you and your provider will create a treatment plan that may include clinically appropriate prescribed medications, behavior or dietary modifications, or other modes of treatment.
Your plan may include 2-week or monthly follow-ups for ongoing treatment plan management and monitoring.
Your provider is able to send medically-indicated prescriptions to your preferred pharmacy if appropriate, and we will alert you in the app when your prescription has been sent to your pharmacy. This can take up to 24 hours after your appointment.
You will continue to have regular check-ins with your provider to ensure your plan continues to help you meet your goals.
Your provider will continue meeting with you to monitor your progress towards reducing symptoms associated with your ADHD as well as your overall health.
As a full-service Primary Care practice, Circle Medical can also help you with other health issues including Illness, Sleep Care including At-Home Sleep Studies, Weight Management, and much more.
If you want to verify if your plan is covered with us, select an appointment time and create an account to submit your insurance. You will not be required to book an appointent.

Attention-deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder, commonly known as ADHD, is a neurodevelopmental condition that can occur in both children and adults. It is commonly characterized by inattention, hyperactivity and impulsivity. These symptoms can interfere with the individual’s daily life and affect their ability to focus and stay organized. It’s important to note that ADHD is a real medical condition and is not someone simply being lazy or lacking discipline.
ADHD is commonly diagnosed in childhood but can often persist into adulthood. Also, if an adult wasn’t diagnosed as a child or developed ADHD later in life, it may go undiagnosed. This is especially common because ADHD can present differently in adults compared to children, leading adults to assume that their symptoms are simply their fault rather than the result of a medical condition. Here are some common ways that ADHD may present in adults:
Difficulty maintaining attention or focus
Trouble concentrating on a single task or completing tasks
Forgetfulness
Disorganization
Restlessness
Difficulty sitting still or frequent fidgeting
Impulsivity
Frequently interrupting conversations
Low self-esteem, anxiety or depression
Difficulty managing stress and emotions
Irritability
Difficulty with social relationships, as the above symptoms can cause strain
While these symptoms can be challenging to deal with, understanding and recognizing them can be an important step in seeking treatment.
While taking the first step to seek help can be intimidating, a treatment plan to improve your quality of life is well worth the effort. Also, getting tested and diagnosed online can make the process even less daunting. Primary care technology and access have evolved so that you can get tested and diagnosed from the comfort of your couch.
First, you’ll need to get in touch with a primary care provider that offers online care, like Circle Medical. Next, you’ll take a self-assessment test to get you started. Your primary care provider will then review your results and conduct an additional assessment to finalize your diagnosis. Your assessment will typically include answering questions about your symptoms, your health history and how these symptoms are impacting your daily life. If you are diagnosed with ADHD, your primary care provider can develop your personalized treatment plan. An ADHD treatment plan typically involves a combination of lifestyle changes, behavioral therapy and prescription ADHD medication when deemed medically appropriate.
When you start seeking information about ADHD, you may be confused if you sometimes see it referred to as ADD. The truth is ADD and ADHD are the same thing. In fact, ADD is an outdated term, as it was previously used to describe someone who has ADHD but doesn’t display hyperactive symptoms. Most medical professionals today will refer to all forms under the ADHD umbrella.

ADHD Treatment
Preparing for an ADHD Intake Appointment
If you've been diagnosed with ADHD before and have your diagnosis paperwork available, you can email it to [email protected]. Be sure to use the same email address that you used to sign up when booking your appointment.
Note: This step is optional. After your first visit, we will facilitate getting your medical records from your previous provider.
If you haven't been diagnosed before, we are still able to diagnose and prescribe medication. You don't need to bring anything in particular to your first appointment. We use a 2 appointment process to diagnose ADHD so that our providers can learn about your medical history and symptoms from you on the first call, and then can send you requests for any specific medical history, ADHD tests/questionnaires, etc. before you have your second call.
Here at Circle Medical, we can provide ADHD diagnosis and treatment for non-complex cases, over video appointments. Our ADHD Assessment process consists of:
• an ADHD intake appointment
• an annual physical exam if you have not had one within the last 12 months, and
• second ADHD appointment to complete the diagnosis process and discuss treatment options.
If medically appropriate, our providers are then able to prescribe clinically-approved ADHD treatment options.
Please note that booking and paying for a video appointment with one of our providers does not guarantee that you will be given a "confirmed" diagnosis. We encourage you to read through this entire FAQ before booking an appointment, to ensure that our practice is a good fit for you.
Our goal as a primary care practice is to make behavioral healthcare more accessible and integrated with primary care. However, primary care has its limitations and this means that receiving behavioral health treatment through Circle Medical is not for everybody. Please read the following carefully to understand whether Circle Medical may be a good fit for you.
You are a good candidate for receiving a comprehensive ADHD assessment and/or ADHD treatment through Circle Medical if:
- You have never had an ADHD diagnosis before but have always suspected you may have mild to moderate ADHD
- You have had an ADHD diagnosis as a child but have not taken medication for it in months/years and are noticing the effects on your work and/or personal life
- You have a current ADHD diagnosis and are on a treatment plan with another practice, but would like to explore switching over your treatment to Circle Medical
Circle Medical is a primary care practice, which means that we are not able to treat more complex cases of ADHD/ADD. Circle is not a good fit for you if:
- You are regularly taking benzodiazepines for other treatment (such as Klonopin or Xanax)
- You are regularly taking opioids for other treatment
- You have a more complex mental health history that may require psychiatric expertise in order to treat safely (this can include recent hospitalizations related to mental health and/or having uncontrolled or unstable bipolar disorder)
To find out more about Circle Medical’s scope of care for mental health, you can read more in this article: Mental Health and Care Eligibility.
To see our list of currently available states, begin booking an appointment.
You must be currently residing in the state of treatment as well as have your primary pharmacy be in that same state in order to be a patient at our practice.
New Jersey state regulations require that patients who have been prescribed a Schedule II controlled medication, such as Vyvanse, Adderall, and Ritalin, schedule an in-person appointment with their provider.
What changes are coming for New Jersey patients who take certain medications?
New Jersey state regulations require that patients prescribed a Schedule II controlled medication, such as Vyvanse, Adderall, and Ritalin, schedule an initial in-person appointment with their provider, and every three months thereafter.
How often do patients need to schedule an in-person appointment?
After the initial visit, patients may continue seeing their provider virtually, but they must have at least one in-person appointment every three months.
Where can these in-person appointments be held?
In-person appointments will soon be available at our locations in Marlton and Short Hills. You may also choose to see your provider at our locations in NY and PA, including our NYC clinic.
How will I be notified about available in-person appointments?
Once your provider has available in-person appointments, you will be notified via email.
Will my medications be sent to NJ if I am seen in NY or PA?
Circle Medical will be able to send your prescription to a New Jersey pharmacy, as long as it’s your current state of residence. The decision to fill your prescription will remain up to each individual pharmacy location and pharmacist on staff.
Are these changes applicable to all medications or only specified ones?
These requirements apply specifically to Schedule II controlled medications, such as Vyvanse, Adderall, and Ritalin. Non-controlled medications are not impacted.
What if my provider is not licensed in Philadelphia or New York, but I live near the border?
In-person appointments should be scheduled with a provider who holds a valid license in the state where the appointment is taking place. If your current provider is not licensed in a state you're closer to, you will need to be seen by a provider who is.
Are there any exceptions to these changes due to specific circumstances?
The new regulations are state-enforced, and are not at our discretion. We encourage a discussion with your provider for more clarity.
What happens if I miss an in-person appointment?
If you miss an in-person appointment, please contact the care team immediately to reschedule as your medication management may be affected.
If I have been virtually visiting my provider, can I continue to do so?
Yes, you can continue to see your provider virtually, but you must schedule at least one in-person appointment every three months as per the new regulations.
What if it's been over 3 months since I last saw my provider in person?
To comply with New Jersey state regulations, your next appointment will need to take place at one of our in-person locations.
What if my provider is not available for an in-person appointment and I’m due for one?
You must be seen in person by the provider who is prescribing your medication. If you book with a new provider due to availability issues, you must continue your care with that provider.
ADHD Providers
Our ADHD providers are primary care providers (MD's/DO's, NP's, and PA's) who have received specialized training for ADHD intake. They are trained by psychiatrists to ensure a high standard of care, but they are not psychiatrists themselves.
Although it is a commonly accepted practice for many primary care providers to refer their patients to psychiatrists for ADHD diagnosis and treatment, primary care providers are actually also able to diagnose and treat mild to moderate forms of ADHD themselves. If you have mild to moderate ADHD, you can benefit from having your ADHD managed by your primary care provider at Circle while getting access to all of the general practitioner services you would find at your normal doctor's office.
More complex cases will require psychiatrists to diagnose. We encourage you to please read through this entire FAQ to make sure our practice is a good fit for your needs before you book a medical appointment with a provider.
Some states have different regulations regarding who can see you for certain ADHD medication management:
• In Florida, Tennessee, and Texas, ADHD care is available with a physician (MD or DO license).
• For other states, patients can book appointments with any provider that we have available.
Our providers undergo thorough training in ADHD diagnosis and treatment. Our team, which includes physicians, nurse practitioners, and physician assistants, collaborates to maintain our high standards of clinical care excellence. Our patients can anticipate this consistent quality, even when changing providers. For patients discussing ADHD symptoms for the first time, the diagnosis process typically spans two visits to ensure comprehensive screening and diagnosis.
Our providers are required to conduct:
• An extensive medical evaluation, which includes an in-depth discussion of symptoms and goals of ADHD treatment (Appointment 1, 30 minutes).
• An annual physical exam with Circle Medical, or proof of an annual physical exam within the past 12 months (Appointment 2, 30 minutes).
• After your medical evaluation and annual physical, a controlled substance medication may be prescribed as part of a comprehensive treatment plan at your provider's discretion (Appointment 2 or 3, 20–30 minutes).
• Monthly follow-up appointments (via video or in-person) to monitor your symptoms, discuss medication side effects and make modifications to your care plan (Follow up appointments, 20 minutes).

Unfortunately, we are unable to provide care for patients who have Medi-Cal or Medicaid insurance. This is because we are not licensed Medi-Cal or Medicaid providers, so we are not able to provide care, even if these patients choose to pay cash instead of use their insurance. How to Prepare for Your First Appointment
Circle Medical always puts the health and safety of our patients first. For this reason, we require any patient that is going to receive a controlled substance as part of their treatment plan to either undergo an Annual Wellness Exam with a Circle Medical provider, or to submit the results of one that was conducted by a primary care provider within the past 12 months. This enables us to ensure that we are minimizing any potential health risks for our patients.
After you are diagnosed, if you are prescribed medications, we will coordinate sending these prescriptions to your preferred pharmacy.
You may have a 2-week follow-up for treatment. Once your treatment plan is finalized, you will have monthly follow-up appointments to maintain treatment.
If you have questions at any time, please feel free to chat with your provider and care team via our secure app.
All of our ADHD appointments have the same initial step: booking a video appointment. We accept patients who have had prior ADHD diagnoses as well as patients who have never been diagnosed with ADHD before. You may book your first video appointment with any of our providers to get started.
Please note that booking and completing an appointment does not guarantee that you will have a confirmed ADHD diagnosis and controlled substance prescription. Your provider has full authority to determine whether or not you are a good candidate for treatment, just like with a traditional doctor's office. Please read this FAQ in its entirety to make sure you are a good candidate for treatment through Circle Medical prior to booking your appointment.
It takes 2-3 appointments to have a full Circle Medical medical evaluation. Our providers are required to conduct:
• An extensive medical evaluation, which includes an in-depth discussion of symptoms and goals of treatment.
• An annual physical exam with Circle Medical, or proof of an annual physical exam within the past 12 months.
• After your medical evaluation and annual physical, a controlled substance medication may be prescribed as part of a comprehensive treatment plan at your provider's discretion.
• Monthly follow-up appointments (via video or in-person) to monitor your symptoms, discuss medication side effects and make modifications to your care plan.
*75% of patients that used accepted insurance to pay for Video ADHD Appointments paid $40 or less per appointment.

View ProvidersHelped me get my ADHD medication renewed when I couldn’t find an in-person provider after moving across the country. My provider is amazing and has listened to me, and followed through with my requests beautifully, making sure I’m educated and know what to expect each time I do make a decision/request.
I have ADHD and this format of meeting with providers is very ADHD friendly. It makes it easy to make appointments and the reminds and app are helpful.
I could not believe that I got an appointment for ADHD within hours. I had a terrible time trying to get an appointment with the group my insurance recommended. The health practitioner is knowledgeable and kind, and I feel like I'm getting both good physical and psychological support.
My first interaction with my provider was a positive experience. He listened to my story and we had many things in common. I love having a provider that is also diagnosed with ADHD. This way we can treat my condition properly on a common ground approach. Thank you for being there for me!
Locally, I’ve been on a waiting list for seeking an ADHD diagnosis for several months. But then I found this app, and within a few days, it’s done! I finally have that peace of mind and can move forward with a treatment plan. Thank you.
My provider is very professional and knowledgeable about ADHD. She also asks for and listens to my opinions about my treatment. The available hours are convenient. I don't have to take any time off from work.
So fast and flexible getting an appointment. As someone with ADHD and anxiety looking for a doctor is a daunting task and keeps you from getting the care you need. They also actually listen to you and what’s bothering you, working with you to come up with the best course of action.
My provider heard me out and helped me with my ADHD. I really appreciate how smooth it all was. Y’all are great!
I am very happy with my treatment and my provider has been really great and helpful. I came to Circle from Done, and Circle is far better at patient follow-up and working with me so that I can manage my ADHD in the best way possible. Also, I am very happy with the communication with Circle Medical.
As someone who has ADHD, simply setting up an account on the site was so easy. You can tell that this was made with neurodivergent people in mind. Things are just SIMPLE.
I finally found a provider who cares about me as a patient. She took time to go over my medical history and went to great lengths to go over how ADHD has affected me and we came up with goals that I want to achieve under her care. Medication isn’t the only avenue for someone living with ADHD.
I've already recommended it to someone else frustrated by their doctor not taking their ADHD symptoms seriously, which is so often the case.
It is so difficult to access mental health care services right now especially for ADHD, so far I have received immediate and responsive care that has already improved my quality of life, thank you.
Joining Circle Medical has saved my life. I was so lost and didn't know why or what was wrong with me. I took a chance and downloaded the app, and had an appointment in the comfort of my own home within a week. I'm now getting the help I always needed and it has been a game changer.
Fast and clear appointment and scheduling process. Knowledgeable providers. Responsive support staff.
It is a very well organized system, efficient and easy. My provider has specific ADHD training and you let us know how your ADHD program rolls (up front). No one likes surprises. My provider was kind and helpful and I got a follow up on our discussion and what I can do to empower myself NOW. Thanks Circle.
Because I felt very heard and wasn’t embarrassed or shamed for needing to look into ADD medication in my 30s.
My provider has been so kind, validating, and understanding. She’s helped me understand my ADHD and treat it.
Didn’t feel like my last doctor's appointments. My provider felt genuinely compassionate about helping me manage my life obstacles with my ADHD. Was skeptical at first but so glad I made the decision. Super affordable for the quality of care.
Love the convenience of the video consultations for refills on my ADHD medication!!! This is wonderful!!! Also love my health practitioner— he is fantastic!!! A++++++
I have already recommended it to many people. I’m a college student and my university health center has several barriers that make it almost impossible for anyone to afford the services required to get ADHD treatment through them, even with insurance. Circle Medical is convenient and being an app with reminders that I can call from anywhere makes it helpful to remember and make appointments.
The scheduling experience is really easy. The provider I chose was on time and she was great. She listened well and I didn't feel rushed or judged. Even though the journey to ask ADHD diagnosis has been a bit scary and anxiety inducing, I left the appointment feeling pretty good about everything.
This system, the efficiency, and care behind it is the best that I have come across. I have been uncomfortable addressing issues like ADD and ADHD as an adult, so I put this off for years. My provider has already helped in 2 sessions and I started my prescription within days. I have to say, I am already feeling better simply taking the initial steps. A big thanks to this team!
My provider is great. To be honest, for me it started out with wanting to privately get my ADD addressed. But now it is so much more. She seems genuinely concerned about my health and asks questions that help me address and focus on issues as needed. Highly recommend.
As a person with ADHD, going to the doctor in person can be really difficult. I used to put off making appointments because it felt like too many steps and I'd go without seeing a doctor for a few years at a time. Circle Medical allows me to access quality care from home and I never miss my appointments thanks to this convenience.
I find the staff and doctors to be very friendly and helpful. Going with Circle Medical has made treatment for ADHD so much easier for me!
It has been a good experience for me. If I have any friends or family members who are looking for ADHD help, I will recommend Circle Medical.
They are quick, professional, and responsive by app. They also take my insurance — what more can I ask for?
Circle Medical helped me get diagnosed for ADHD. It absolutely changed my life for the better. I’ve already recommended it to multiple people. Access to affordable care like this is amazing and I want everyone to benefit from it.
ADHD assessment was tailored to adult women. The expert gave nuanced additions and clarification to questions or statements. I feel much better equipped to handle life and am making progress in ways that seemed impossible before.
My practitioner was extremely friendly and empathetic, and an expert at ADHD and ADD so he knew exactly how to help me and with questions to ask.
I’m very likely to recommend Circle Medical because of the progress that I have made. My provider has made it possible for me to accept and understand my ADHD with the upmost positivity and total honesty. I have never been able to love and accept myself till now.
This service is a godsend. I am a single mom of 2 beautiful boys under the age of 5, at home full time as well as working full time. Having the ability to see my provider on a schedule that works for me and takes my insurance is awesome! Thank you guys for all your guidance and support on my journey through life!
Finding a good and reliable remote healthcare provider to diagnose and treat ADHD is extremely difficult. Circle Medical has made this process easy for me and I am thankful I chose Circle Medical.
