We've also partnered with Octave Health, leaders in virtual therapy, to help create comprehensive treatment plans tailored for your needs.

Find the perfect fit

Choose from our network of top-tier providers to find one whose experience and outlook on providing care makes you feel comfortable. You can always switch providers at any time.

Get to know your provider

After booking your first appointment, you'll get a few brief questionnaires. You and your provider will then discuss your reasons for seeking care. Together, you will establish your care plan, which may include therapy, medication, or both.

Adjust as needed

It takes time to find the right treatment for your unique situation. You can book follow-up appointments with your provider to check in on how things are going, and can securely message your care team at any time.

What type of care is available to me?

Your provider will work with you to create a tailored care plan that may consist of any combination of the following:

Therapy

After your intake appointment, your provider can initiate a matching process with Octave Health's network of highly vetted therapists with a broad range of specialties and treatment approaches.

Once you're matched, your Circle Medical provider and Octave therapist will treat you as a team to ensure that you are receiving the best possible care.

Medication

The decision to try medication is very personal. If you and your provider decide to include medication in your care plan, you can receive your prescription virtually.

You can  pick up your prescription at a pharmacy of your choosing. Your provider will work with you to make adjustments to find what works best for you.

Physical Healthcare

A sudden change in mood with no prior history of mental illness can sometimes be a physical issue. As a primary care provider, we can order diagnostic tests and treat your physical health.

Any laboratory tests or bloodwork ordered will be sent to a lab near you, and your results will be uploaded to the app for you and your provider to review together.

60%

of Octave Health patients experience a clinically significant reduction in symptoms within 16 weeks.

We are trusted by over 50,000 patients every month. Here's what they have to say.

The providers have been wonderful, appointments are easy and always on time. The staff is quick and very responsive in chat.

Tom

My provider is the kindest person and she’s very patient and caring. She’s very helpful. The whole setup of Circle Medical is easy and efficient!

Tori

The turnaround time to get an appointment and see a provider was so quick and easy; everything is setup with the neurodivergent brain in mind from the way the app is designed to appointment reminders and calendar syncing. My provider made me feel heard and she kept our appointment focused on the task at hand (so important for adhd minds!)

Jenna

Accessibe, efficient, and I really like my provider's approach to my concerns and partnership in treatment planning. I feel validated, heard, and respected. Love how streamlined the app makes everything including the chat feature being open 24/7. Feels like I have open/quick access and flexibility in getting my needs met.

Maxine

Its extremely user friendly, and the Doctors, PAs and NPs are of the absolute highest quality.

Cara

Appointment availability. I cannot get an in-person appointment in my city for 6 weeks. This app allowed me to connect with a medical professional the next day. (Same-day was available as well.) And professionalism. I felt that in my two appointments I was treated with respect, not judged, and I was able to express my issues and thoughts to someone who was actually listening.

Craig

Extremely responsive to concerns, rapid response to customer service issues.

Penny

My provider has been an amazingly attentive, caring, and informative professional. The accessibility that this group provides is helping me take control of my health.

Jack

Circle Medical has helped me find a doctor that I am comfortable with, and otherwise wouldn't be able to have as my primary care physician becasue of where I live. It also has helped me get help with my ADHD.

Mary

Circle Medical is easy to use and accepts a lot of insurances. I felt like my provider cared about me and we have begun to form a relationship. In regular offices I always feel rushed or unheard but somehow Circle Medical feels more personal. Requesting a refill is easy and you can check on the status.

Anna

I’ve had an amazing experience. I liked how I was able to read up on the providers to find the right fit for me. The one I chose is absolutely the right fit and has worked with me to find the correct dosage of medication.

Sandoval

Simple and straightforward process, from home. The provider was more patient and attentive than I am accustomed to at my regular doctor.

Russel

Easy to schedule and the providers are very kind and helpful and knowledgeable.

Geoff

I always feel heard and comfortable during my appointments.

Marvin

My provider is wonderful and so accomodating. I've been to psychs in the past that have been very rude and clearly wanted to get the visit over with ASAP, but she never rushes, she listens to me cite my complaints and praises about my current treatment plan, and then responds with true care.

Serena

Modern day convenience. Great experience.

Amelia

Simple and easy. My PCP is absolutely amazing, super helpful, kind and understanding. It was also very affordable and convenient.

Lee

My provider is absolutely amazing. Very compassionate, listens, provides feedback, and takes her time. I feel very comfortable and confident with my care.

Tara

My interaction was one with care, and I was asked more questions into my “issues or problems.” It didn’t feel like I was talking to a typical doctor, but rather someone who was genuinely concerned with my problem.

Samantha

It is quick and convenient, especially compared to traditional healthcare.

Nicholas

Very convenient. I was shocked that I could get inexpensive mental health services so quickly. Very pleased.

Keshawn

Your app is the best I’ve used, and I design apps for a living. I absolutely love my provider. She’s so kind and caring and very easy to talk to.

Riley

My provider was very nice. She listened to my concerns. I’m usually very nervous to speak to a new doctor but she made me feel very comfortable. I would recommend Circle Medical to any of my friends or family.

Melvin

I absolutely love my provider. She spends quality time listening to me. It’s rare these days that a doctor is willing to SEE you, and I don’t mean see you as in pop in for an appointment and push you out the door. She is an active listener and sees that I want to change my life. She’s helping me do that!

Lana

I'm having a great experience with Circle Medical. They schedule appointments quickly, show up to the video calls on time and take your issues seriously. I feel heard. My treatment is working! Looking forward to continuing to work with Circle.

Erin

This is the first practice in over a decade where I actually felt heard. Advocating for yourself can be hard when you’ve had other practitioners who are dismissive and condescending. This practice is the complete opposite and a much needed breath of fresh air.

Yolanda

It's been a great platform so far. The response time and availability of the team have been the best.

TJ

It’s very convenient and flexible. The providers are very compassionate and foster an open environment that allows patients to take control of their health and well-being.

Jose

My provider has been nothing short of amazing with helping me with ADHD diagnosis and treatment.

Amon

My provider is awesome. She is always on time and prepared for my appointments. She is patient, listens to my concerns, and provides excellent care. The app is super easy to use and helps me keep track of my appointments and medical history. Definitely recommend!

Brett

My provider is amazing very professional. Customer care is always on top of any question you have. I highly recommend Circle Medical.

Briana

To my provider, thank you sooo much!!! You are the best doctor ever!!! I literally owe you my life and I will be forever grateful, may God bless you so you can keep helping more patients 🙏🏻🩺👩‍⚕️

Macher

Easy to schedule appointments, the chat is super responsive, and everyone I’ve talked to is friendly and helpful.

Pando

Excellent service! Kind, considerate, and professional.

Carrie

They listen. I finally got put on meds that help.

Jonas

Always available, always on time, incredible care providers.

Lisa

My primary care provider is so nice and helpful. The system is very easy user friendly, and the prices are reasonable compared to many other companies.

Stella

I have been extremely happy with the entire staff, always so willing to help me in any way from appointments to assistance with insurance. I have already suggested Circle Medical to my sister, who struggles with many of the same issues that I do.

Rhianna

Very convenient, medical professionals are understanding and helpful in providing solutions

Luke

I put off my mental health for a long time. It took me a lot of courage just to click Book Appointment. It was so easy, the first appointment was great and constructive, The second was scheduled for 3 days later, and I got a treatment plan from my Mental Health Professional within hours.

Frequently Asked

Anxiety / Depression Treatment

Can I get diagnosed with anxiety or depression through Circle?

Yes, our providers are able to provide a comprehensive assessment and diagnosis of mild to moderate anxiety or depression. If you are diagnosed by one of our providers, we are able to provide ongoing treatment in the form of regular check-ins, medication prescriptions, and therapy with our partner Octave Health, depending on your needs.

Please note that booking and paying for a video appointment with one of our providers does not guarantee that you will be given a "confirmed" diagnosis. Similarly, paying for a video appointment does not guarantee that you will get prescribed a specific medication. If you are looking for a very specific medication, like a benzodiazepine, we encourage you to read through this entire FAQ before booking an appointment, to ensure that our practice is a good fit for you.

Who is a good fit for anxiety and/or depression medication management through Circle?

Our goal as a primary care practice is to make behavioral healthcare more accessible and integrated with primary care. However, primary care has its limitations and this means that receiving behavioral health treatment through Circle Medical is not for everybody. Please read the following carefully to understand whether Circle Medical may be a good fit for you.

You are a good candidate for receiving a comprehensive behavioral health assessment and/or treatment through Circle Medical if:

- You have previously been on medication for anxiety, depression, and/or ADHD and found that it worked well for you in the past.
- You have not tried medication before but you are ready to work with a provider to find the best treatment plan for you. You understand that there may be mild side effects from medication and you are willing to work through these side effects.
- You believe you may have mild to moderate anxiety, depression, and/or ADHD and would like to receive a comprehensive assessment.

Circle Medical is a primary care practice, which means that we are not able to treat more complex behavioral health cases. Circle is not a good fit for you if:

- You are regularly taking or seeking a prescription for benzodiazepines for other treatment (such as Klonopin or Xanax).
- You are regularly taking or seeking a prescription for opioids for other treatment.
- You have a more complex mental health history that may require psychiatric expertise in order to treat safely (this can include hospitalizations related to mental health and/or having bipolar disorder).
- You have tried taking at least 3 different medications for anxiety/depression before and did not tolerate the side effects of treatment.

What states do you operate in?

To see a list of states, please start booking an appointment. You will be able to select from all of the lists where we are currently practicing.

You must be currently residing in the state of treatment as well as have your primary pharmacy be in that same state in order to be a patient at our practice.

Providers

Am I seeing a psychiatrist through Circle?

Our providers are primary care providers (MD's/DO's, NP's, and PA's) who have received specialized training for behavioral health treatment. They are trained by psychiatrists to ensure a high standard of care, but they are not psychiatrists themselves.

Although it is a commonly accepted practice for many primary care providers to refer their patients to psychiatrists for anxiety and/or depression diagnosis and treatment, primary care providers are actually also able to diagnose and treat mild to moderate forms of anxiety and depression themselves. If you have mild to moderate anxiety and/or depression, you can benefit from having your care managed by your primary care provider at Circle while getting access to all of the general practitioner services you would find at your normal doctor's office.

More complex cases will require psychiatrists to diagnose. We encourage you to please read through this entire FAQ to make sure our practice is a good fit for your needs before you book a medical appointment with a provider.

Do I need to book my appointment with a doctor (MD or DO), or can I book my appointment with any provider (PA-C, NP, etc)?

You do not need to book your initial appointment with a doctor. You can book your appointment with any provider that we have available. Our providers all work closely together to make sure that we are providing the same excellent standard of care to all patients regardless of which provider you book your appointment with.

How long are the appointments?

The first intake appointment is 30 minutes. Follow-up appointments are 20 minutes each.

Billing

What is the total cost of anxiety and/or depression diagnosis and treatment?

Insured

$5 - $50 average copay* per appointment

*Note: Your specific copay is dependent on your health insurance coverage. We typically see patients with copays of around $0-$50 per appointment, but this can be higher if you have a high-deductible plan and have not yet hit your deductible this year. To confirm your specific copay estimate, you can click to book an appointment and you will be asked to input your insurance information so that you can receive your cost estimate before confirming the appointment.

Our ability to estimate your costs is dependent on your healthcare insurance's database, so we do not guarantee that the estimate you see is the exact amount you will be billed. For the most accurate estimate of your per-appointment costs, we recommend calling the phone number on the back of your insurance card to ask your insurance plan what your primary care appointment costs are.

Uninsured

$100 per appointment

What is the cost of therapy?

Insured

Prices for Octave's services range based on coverage, but most of their clients pay 0%-25% of visit costs when in-network.

Most times, clients can get 50%-80% of their care paid for if out-of-network benefits apply. Octave provides tools to help clients get this money easily reimbursed.

*Please note that you will have to verify your insurance plan with Octave Health independently of your insurance plan verification with Circle Medical.

Uninsured

Individual Therapy: from $205 per 60 minute session

Couples Therapy: from $250 per 60 minute session

Insurance

What insurance do you accept?

For non-therapy appointments:

We contract with most PPO insurance plans. If you are a California Bay Area resident, we also work with a small number of HMO plans.

To verify if we work with your insurance, simply start booking an appointment online. You will be prompted to enter your insurance details and will receive eligibility results instantly as well as an estimate of your appointment cost prior to confirming your appointment.

Some PPO plans that we currently work with are:

Anthem Blue Cross/Blue Shield, Aetna, Blue Shield of California, Cigna, Health Net, Humana, and United Healthcare.

For therapy appointments:

Octave is currently in-network with Anthem Blue Cross and Health Net in California, and Aetna and the United Healthcare UMR plan for Mount Sinai employees in New York. Please note that Octave and Circle have different insurance networks, so you will need to verify your insurance separately with Octave. Having in-network insurance with Circle Medical does not guarantee that your insurance will be in-network with Octave.

Plans that we cannot work with are:

Unfortunately, we are unable to provide care for patients who have Medi-Cal or Medicaid insurance. This is because we are not licensed Medi-Cal or Medicaid providers, so we are not able to provide care, even if these patients choose to pay cash instead of use their insurance. If you have Medi-Cal or Medicaid, please do not book an appointment with us, as we will be unable to provide care even if you do not enter your insurance information.

Other

What do I need to do to prepare for my first appointment? Do I need to submit medical records anywhere?

If you've been diagnosed with anxiety and/or depression before and have your diagnosis paperwork available, you can email it to records@circlemedical.com. Be sure to use the same email address that you used to sign up when booking your appointment.

Note: This step is optional. After your first visit, we will facilitate getting your medical records from your previous provider.

What happens after I am prescribed?

After you are diagnosed, if you are prescribed medications, we will coordinate sending these prescriptions to your preferred pharmacy.

You may have a 2-week follow-up if you are on a new dosage for treatment. Once your treatment has stabilized, you will have monthly follow-up appointments to maintain treatment.

If you have questions at any time, please feel free to chat with your provider and care team via our secure app.

Can I get diagnosed in my first appointment? How long does it take to have a complete diagnosis?

After you fill out the initial questionnaires sent to you, it typically takes one appointment for a diagnosis.
