Virtual care can seem scary - but we make it feel just like an in-person encounter. Our primary care providers share one goal: to learn what makes you unique so they can guide you on your journey towards achieving and maintaining optimal health.
Sloane's story (2 min)
Many telemedicine providers treat a single condition - ADHD, hair loss, sleep problems, blood pressure - but you and your health are more complex than any one issue.
At Circle Medical, as both an in-person and virtual Primary Care practice, we treat the whole patient. This means the next time you need to discuss any Primary Care-related issue, you’re already where you need to be.

General
For a detailed breakdown of what you need for your first appointment with Circle Medical, read the article below:
How to Prepare for Your First Appointment
With Circle Medical, you don't have to. We have flagship clinics in San Francisco, Beverly Hills, and New York City, with more coming soon, and offer limited in-person clinic availability for our established ADHD patients at 24 shared clinic locations.
Virtual appointments allow our patients to see their providers in the comfort of their own homes, without the hassle of travel, finding parking, or taking time off of work. Our providers are also able to offer more flexible hours beyond what in-person doctor’s offices provide.
For virtual appointments, if any in-person care is needed, such as bloodwork, vaccinations, or other testing, our providers are able to send the appropriate request to a nearby lab. Results will be integrated with our HIPAA-compliant mobile app so that patients have access to all of their medical records in one secure place.
For those with insurance, cost will depend on the specific type of care you receive and the coverage of your insurance plan. We provide a cost estimate based on each patient’s insurance plan when they book an appointment.
For those without insurance, we provide the self-pay costs of each appointment when a patient is booking their appointment.
To see our list of currently available states, begin booking an appointment.
You must be currently residing in the state of treatment as well as have your primary pharmacy be in that same state in order to be a patient at our practice.
Behavioral Health
Our ADHD providers are primary care providers (MDs/DOs, NPs, and PAs) who have received specialized training for ADHD intake. They are trained by psychiatrists to ensure a high standard of care, but they are not psychiatrists themselves.
Although it is a commonly accepted practice for many primary care providers to refer their patients to psychiatrists for ADHD diagnosis and treatment, primary care providers are actually also able to diagnose and treat mild to moderate forms of ADHD themselves. If you have mild to moderate ADHD, you can benefit from having your ADHD managed by your primary care provider at Circle while getting access to all of the general practitioner services you would find at your normal doctor's office.
More complex cases will require psychiatrists to diagnose. We encourage you to please read through this entire FAQ to make sure our practice is a good fit for your needs before you book a medical appointment with a provider.
Billing
We provide a cost estimate when you are booking your appointment. For those with insurance, your actual cost is determined after we submit the insurance claim for your appointment. Once we submit the claim, insurance companies will pay for a portion of the appointment and pass on any remaining cost to you. Once we know what this cost is, we will update you with an invoice within the app.
For those with insurance, it typically takes 1-3 weeks for the insurance claim to be processed. Once processed, we’ll send you an invoice within the app with any remaining costs. You can then opt to pay through the app, or we will automatically charge the payment card on file after 48 hours of sending you the invoice.
For those without insurance (or with out of network insurance), we will send you the invoice 1-2 days after your appointment is completed. You can then opt to pay through the app, or we will automatically charge the payment card on file after 48 hours of sending you the invoice.
Insurance
The first intake appointment is 30 minutes. Follow-up appointments are 20 minutes each.
We accept over 1,500+ insurance plans. We cover most of the major PPO insurance companies (payors) across the United States. The best way to confirm coverage of your insurance plan is to begin booking an appointment on our website or via our mobile app. During the booking process, you’ll be prompted to enter your insurance information for a real-time verification of your insurance plan.
The best way to confirm your insurance plan coverage is to call the Member Services phone number on the back of your insurance card. If needed, you can reference our Tax ID#: 474883537 and our NPI: 1134596091. Once you are able to confirm your coverage and your primary care copay costs, you can use the in-app chat to message our team with the information. We’ll then follow up with confirmation.
Your per-appointment costs are set by your insurance plan. If the costs seem high, you may be on a high deductible health plan (HDHP). This means that you have an annual out-of-pocket amount that you must pay on healthcare in a given year before your insurance plan will cover more of your per-appointment costs.
If you are on an HDHP and have confirmed your insurance information in our mobile app, your remaining deductible for the year will be displayed on the “Book Appointment” page. Note that this amount may be outdated if you have had recent insurance claims processed.
PrEP Treatment
Yes, anyone who is 18+ and permanently resides in a state that we service is eligible for treatment through our practice.
To see a list of states, please start booking an appointment. You will be able to select from a list of all of the states where we are currently practicing.
You must be currently residing in the state of treatment as well as have your primary pharmacy be in that same state in order to be a patient at our practice.
We recommend booking a video appointment to speak with one of our experienced clinicians to get your questions answered. All of our clinicians are primary care practitioners, which means that they are experienced in providing care beyond prescribing PrEP.
Your clinician will be able to discuss your treatment options with you and answer any questions you may have, about PrEP or about any other health topic you may want to discuss in a safe environment.
Your provider will be able to place a lab order to a lab near you to get bloodwork completed. Your results will be uploaded automatically to the app, where you can view and download them at any time.
Providers
Our providers are primary care providers (MD's, DO's, NP's, and PA's) who have experience in providing gender-affirming care and behavioral health care. They are allies and proud members of the LGBTQIA+ community. We encourage you to read more about each provider on their profiles above!
You do not need to book your appointment with a doctor. You can book your appointment with any provider that we have available. Our providers all work closely together to make sure that we are providing the same excellent standard of care to all patients regardless of which provider you book your appointment with. The type of provider you book with will not limit the type of treatment or medications that you are able to be prescribed.
The first intake appointment is 30 minutes. Follow-up appointments, if you have them, are 20 minutes each.
Billing
We accept most major PPO plans and we do not have any membership fees or ongoing membership requirements. The only cost that you have from our practice is the cost per appointment (see below for appointment cost estimates). During your appointment, you can discuss any health concerns you may have, whether related to PrEP or not.
Your other costs include the cost of the medication(s) at the pharmacy (we recommend using GoodRx coupons to lower this cost), and the cost of any lab work or hormone testing at the lab.
With Insurance
$5 - $50 average copay* 1st appointment
$5 - $50 average copay* 2nd appointment
$10 - $100* total, with $5 - $50* monthly follow-ups once stable.
*Note: Your specific copay is dependent on your health insurance coverage. We typically see patients with copays of around $0-$50 per appointment, but this can be higher if you have a high-deductible plan and have not yet hit your deductible this year. To confirm your specific copay estimate, you can click to book an appointment and you will be asked to input your insurance information so that you can receive your cost estimate before confirming the appointment.
Our ability to estimate your costs is dependent on your healthcare insurance's database, so we do not guarantee that the estimate you see is the exact amount you will be billed. For the most accurate estimate of your per-appointment costs, we recommend calling the phone number on the back of your insurance card to ask your insurance plan what your primary care appointment costs are.
Without Insurance (out of network or uninsured)
$100 per appointment
Your specific follow-up appointment timeline may vary depending on what your provider recommends.
Insurance
We contract with most PPO insurance plans. If you are a California Bay Area resident, we also work with a small number of HMO plans.
To verify if we work with your insurance, simply start booking an appointment online. You will be prompted to enter your insurance details and will receive eligibility results instantly as well as an estimate of your appointment cost prior to confirming your appointment.
Some PPO plans that we currently work with are:
Anthem Blue Cross/Blue Shield, Aetna, Blue Shield of California, Cigna, Health Net, Humana, and United Healthcare.
Plans that we cannot work with are:
Unfortunately, we are unable to provide care for patients who have Medi-Cal or Medicaid insurance. This is because we are not licensed Medi-Cal or Medicaid providers, so we are not able to provide care, even if these patients choose to pay cash instead of use their insurance. If you have Medi-Cal or Medicaid, please do not book an appointment with us, as we will be unable to provide care even if you do not enter your insurance information. We apologize about this.

After booking your first appointment, download the app and make sure that you are able to sign in. Confirm your appointment start time in the app (all times are in your phone's local time). No other actions are needed.
You will receive an in-app chat message 1-2 minutes before your appointment start time with the link to join your video appointment.
After you are prescribed medications, we will coordinate sending these prescriptions to your preferred pharmacy. We may have a mail-order prescription delivery service available; please ask your provider about this.
We will contact you via the in-app chat regarding ongoing refills and follow-up appointments. Your specific follow-up appointment cadence will be determined by your provider.
If you have questions at any time, please feel free to chat with your provider and care team via our secure app.
